Post-Groundhog Day Grumble

Yesterday school children in classrooms around the U.S. colored pictures of groundhogs and brought them home for their parents to admire on the fridge. Oh how I miss those days! In offices and workplaces, people could have cared less about this remarkable, weather-predicting celebration (well at least in my workplace).

The results are in:
Staten Island Chuck did not see his shadow (aka spring arrives early), but Punxsutawney Phil, on the other hand, saw his shadow (aka six more weeks of winter). So which one of these ground digging rodents' predictions is the real one?!

I must agree with fellow Louisianians (of course only those other Louisianians who also care about Groundhog Day). In South Louisiana, we would be foolish to follow the yankee groundhog predictions. Therefore, I spose Chuck and Phil's shadows or lack thereof mean absolutely nothing to me.

Ladies and gentlemen, according to Shadeaux, spring will arrive early! Yes indeed, this legit groundhog did NOT see his shadow!

Honestly, I feel like it should be the other way around. If the groundhog does not see his shadow, we will have six more weeks of winter, but I'm no meteorologist (neither is a groundhog for the record). Call me crazy, but sunshine (aka shadow producers) means spring in my mind.

Groundhogs, shmoundhogs!
